SAFARI is a collage of images: images of giraffes, zebras and cheetahs; Africa baskets, Kuba and Kente cloth patterns; and tribal masks. Many different threads are used, including slubbed, nubby, pearl and stranded silks, as well as strands of cotton Sea Grass to create this “image collage”. As a final touch several African trade beads are added to the central Bobo Plank Mask to give added dimension.
I was inspired to create this design during the time my daughter was a zoo keeper in the African Savanna exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo. And even though I created it 10 years ago it is still one of my most popular designs!
PLEASE NOTE this listing is for a COMPLETE kit which includes the instruction book, all threads and beads required to complete the stitching of the design, required needles, needle threader and a storage bag. NOTE: Finishing supplies are not included in the kit.
Design Size is 10" X 11" X 1/3"
The ground fabric is on 18 count eggshell mono canvas and the design is drawn on the canvas.
Recommended stitching is intermediate to advanced intermediate.
